Released in March 2008, this memorial DVD to the late, great (yet often misunderstood) Italian director Lucio Fulci features

nearly 90 on-camera interviews with some of the biggest names in EuroHorror, all answering the same question...

"What is your fondest memory of Lucio Fulci?"

These interviews were originally slated to serve as an accompaniment to a book project of the same name (see Origins below), but in viewing the responses back-to-back, this DVD gets to the heart of that project and tells the tale of

who Lucio Fulci was via those he knew & worked with.

Origins...

The concept of PAURA: Lucio Fulci Remembered came about in 2000 when Mike Baronas – still harboring angst over a missed opportunity to interview Fulci at the New York Fangoria convention back in January of 1996 – felt compelled to pay homage to the maestro in some significant form.

After reading Stephen Thrower’s Beyond Terror: The Films of Lucio Fulci, a gorgeous coffee table book released in 1999 that's primarily filled with photos and highbrow analysis of the director’s work, Baronas still yearned to find out what made Lucio tick. Learning who he was from those who worked with him throughout his long and varied career was the only answer. It would not only shed light on who the man really was, but also give insight into the lives of those he surrounded himself with. It was at that time that when he thought a companion piece was needed to Thrower's tome.

Baronas began seeking out and extensively interviewing those with whom he could communicate – Florinda Bolkan, Janet Agren, Giovanni Lombardo Radice, Brett Halsey, Jared Martin, Giannetto De Rossi, etc. – but he soon hit the language barrier and the project came to a hault.

Then in April of 2001, Baronas noticed a posting on the Mobius Home Video Forum by a then London-based Kit Gavin claiming some personal details of an Italian star, and contacted Gavin straight away. The pair were impressed with each other’s research and love of the EuroCult genre as a whole. Baronas offered Gavin the opportunity to co-author PAURA, with Kit humbly agreeing.

It was the partnership opportunity with Media Blasters in obtaining extras (including interviews, audio commentaries and/or original poster art & press photos) for their 'Shriek Show' line of Italian horror classics on DVD that was the catalyst in making their project a reality. Down time saw their schedules full of meetings with stars of the films they grew up adoring, often forging friendships that continue to this day.

At the present time, there are no plans on releasing what would surely rival author Tim Lucas' massive Mario Bava: All The Colors Of The Dark, but work HAS begun on the follow-up to the first DVD volume...
